How to cancel a sale and refund a customer

Introduction

Sometimes a sale needs to be cancelled after payment has been received, whether due to a product return, a data entry error, or a customer request. Jewely allows you to generate a credit note and issue a refund in just a few steps.

Access the sale to cancel

  1. From the menu Sales, click on Sales list.
  2. Search for the relevant sale using the customer name, date, or ticket number.
  3. Click on the sale to open it.

Generate a credit note / cancel the sale

  1. In the sales details, click on the button Customer feedback (Or Cancel the sale).
  2. Select the items to return (partially or in full).
  3. State the reason for the return if requested.
  4. A have a client is automatically generated and associated with the customer record.

Refund the customer

After generating the asset, several options are available to you:

  • Cash refund Enter the amount to be refunded at the checkout.
  • Refund via bank card : make a return to the payment terminal.
  • Keep the asset : the amount remains on the customer's record for a future purchase.

Check the credit on the customer record

The credit appears in the customer file, accessible via Customers > customer search. It can be used during a future sale by selecting Use a credit at the time of payment.

Good to know

  • Returned items are automatically reintegrated into stock.
  • A cancelled sale generates a correcting accounting entry.
  • For sales with a deposit, the refund can be made in several installments.
